Air Marshal Sujeet P. Dharkar, currently in charge of the Eastern Air Command in Shillong is likely to be the next vice-chief of the Indian Air Force. Air Marshal Dharkar takes over from Air Chief Marshal A.P.Singh who will be the next air chief from September 30.
An IAF officer for nearly 40 years, Air Marshal Dharkar has been senior air staff officer of the South Western Air Command in Gandhinagar and has experience in handling space issues. Originally a MiG-23 and MiG-27 (both Russian designed fighters) pilot, AM Dharkar has expertise in ground attack roles.
Vastly experienced, he will now handle various issues, including operations and intelligence. Air Marshal Dharkar is an alumnus of US Air Force Air War College in Montgomery.
