The alert came to light when police interrogated suspects linked to a recent shooting incident in Greater Kailash-I, which resulted in the murder of businessman Nadir Shah. During questioning, these suspects revealed they had been instructed to scout The Suryaa hotel for a planned murder.

However, they were initially unaware of the target. Later, their orders shifted to eliminate Shah, which they executed on Thursday night. It remains unclear whether Shah was intended to be the target at the hotel, and investigations are ongoing to determine his connection to the venue.

As the investigation progressed, it became apparent that Faruqui was also a potential target. In response, police quickly formed two teams: one to secure the hotel and the other to monitor the IGI stadium, where Faruqui’s colleague, YouTuber Elvish Yadav, was competing against him, as per a report by TOI.
