MBBS in Hindi language is being introduced by several state governments. In line with other states, Rajasthan has also announced to launch MBBS course in Hindi language along with English. On September 14 while celebrating the Hindi Diwas, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan governments announced to impart medical education in Hindi from the current academic year.
Rajasthan government has decided to implement the Hindi language in Phases. In the academic year 2024-25, two medical colleges in the state — Sampurnanand Medical College of Jodhpur and Medical College of Barmer affiliated under the Marwar Medical University — will introduce the course.
“In the first phase, MBBS in Hindi has been launched at Dr Sampurnanand (SN) Medical College, Jodhpur, and Barmer Medical College, affiliated to Marwar Medical University,” said Gayatri Rathore, principal secretary, Medical Education Department.
Students will get options to choose their preferred language- Hindi or English for MBBS education.
Chhattisgarh Announced MBBS In Hindi
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced implementation of MBBS course in Hindi from the ongoing academic session. “Our government has made a big decision on Hindi Diwas. The MBBS course will now also be taught in Hindi. Books in Hindi will be introduced in the first year of this session (2024-25). The health department has been asked to arrange books and study materials,” he said.
Before Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, four other states in the country- Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh- have already implemented Hindi in medical education.
The decision is taken in line with the PM Modi's vision of imparting education in Hindi. Notably, BJP-led state governments have introduced MBBS in Hindi.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the MBBS books in Hindi in October 2022. Madhya Pradesh was the first state to launch to MBBS in Hindi.
