Chandigarh: The workers of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a massive protest outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Chandigarh over BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s remarks against farmers. The protest escalated and a scuffle broke out between police and AAP workers. The cops also detained some of the protesters.
One of the detained protesters said, "She does not have any control over what she says… We demand PM Modi to cancel her (Lok Sabha) membership."
The protesters attempted to gherao BJP Punjab office in Chandigarh and raised slogans against the saffron party and demanded Kangana’s resignation. They said that the party is anti-farmers and not working for them.

Meanwhile, a heavy police deployment has been made in the area to contain the protest and situation.
The BJP on Monday distanced itself from Kangana Ranaut’s statement linking farmers’ protest with Bangladesh violence. The saffron party expressed disagreement over Ranaut’s controversial remarks and said that the Mandi MP has no right to speak on internal policy matters of the party.

The BJP also directed the actor-turned-politician not to give such statements in future. "Whatever Kangana Ranaut has stated regarding the farmers' agitation, the party does not subscribe to her views,” the BJP said.
“The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' movement is not the opinion of the party. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut,” the party said in the statement.
Kangan shared a video on her X handle, in which she alleged that Bangladesh-like anarchy could have happened in India in the name of farmers' protest. The actor-turned-politician said that outside forces were planning to destroy India with the help of “insiders”.
Ranaut also alleged that “bodies were hanging and rapes were taking place” during the farmers' protest against the now-repealed three farm laws. She further stated that it was prevented only because of the foresight of India’s leadership.
