"Keep a close eye on North Korea who may try to exploit the South's instability," an ex-special envoy has warned. South Korea and the U.S. should keep a close eye on North Korea as it may try to take advantage of the current situation, a former special envoy warned.
"We need to keep our eyes focused on North Korea and whether they will see an opportunity to exploit this," Sydney Seiler, the former envoy to the Six Party Talks, which aims to end North Korea's nuclear program, told CNN. Seiler said another crucial point to watch was how South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol reacts to the National Assembly's vote to block his declaration of martial law, and whether he would accept it.
