Chennai: The city has been witnessing rain ever since Cyclone Fengal made the landfall on November 30, throwing normal lives out of balance. Though the downpour is not as intense as it was before the cyclonic storm had hit the coast near Puducherry. At present, there are on and off rain showers in parts of Chennai with a moisture inflow. According to a solo weather forecast, the rain band has shifted towards North West Interior districts of Tamilnadu and Bengaluru region.
The rain has significantly reduced in Chennai but the rain above the normal amount is expected in the city. Therefore, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert in the city. Some of the districts in Tamil Nadu are still in the red alert zone for heavy rains.
According to the IMD forecast for today, there is a generally cloudy sky in Chennai, expecting heavy rains. The minimum temperature in the city has reached 22 degrees Celsius, and the maximum settled at 25 degrees. The IMD weather forecast for Chennai this week showed that the city will receive rain the whole week. It is expected to get intense on December 6.
A solo weather forecast shared that Chennai woke up to heavy rains on Monday.
