Rohit Sharma didn't have a great start to the Australia tour as he was dismissed for three runs in the practice game against Prime Minister's XI. Rohit hasn't been in great form of late and could only score 91 runs in three Tests against New Zealand in a 0-3 drubbing for the hosts.

Rohit's consistent lean run with the bat has invited severe criticism from the Indian captain. After Rohit Sharma's failure in the warm-up game, a quote from former Australia captain Ricky Ponting went viral where he slammed the veteran, saying he wouldn't even find a place in Australia's Shield matches.

"Players like Rohit Sharma won't even make it into the XI of Shield games in Australia," read the viral quote.

Ponting's harsh remarks for Rohit Sharma didn't go well with a few fans, but it didn't take long for fans to realise that the quote wasFAKE.

That’s why Australia wasn’t able to make it to T20 WC final where Rohit was leading …

Punter forgot how many times Rohit smoked Australia especially in ICC Events 🤦‍♂️ If he gets his form back he'll be the biggest nightmare for Kangaroos 🤡

Rohit Sharma To Sacrifice Opening Slot?

KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were brilliant for India during the Perth Test and added 201 runs for the first wicket in the second innings. Rahul, especially looked composed and showed great defensive skills. Rohit's aggressive style of play might not be feasible against the new ball, but it could be effective if he bats in the middle order when the ball is soft and there is less movement on offer. Rohit could thus drop down to no. five in the Adelaide Test to allow KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal open the innings. The Test will also see Shubman Gill make a comeback to the side. Gill looked in fine form in the practice game and slammed a brilliant half-century.
