Midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed during Fiorentina's match against Inter Milan on Sunday. The Serie A game was suspended after the incident. Players and staff from both teams formed a circle around the 22-year-old as an ambulance arrived on the pitch. He was later taken to the hospital.
Players and staff members at the scene were visibly emotional after Bove was taken to the hospital. The referee took them all off the pitch and the game was suspended. Inter Milan released a statement saying: “The match has been suspended due to a medical emergency.”

Edoardo Bove Latest Health Update:
According to Sky Italia, Bove was breathing but unconscious after being taken to hospital. He regained consciousness, Fiorentina club executives are at the hospital with the player, Sky Sport's Matteo Barzaghi added.
"Sky Italia reporting that Bove, who is now in hospital, is breathing but remains unconscious. Gazzetta reporting that the game will be abandoned. Judging from the faces of the players before they left, it's the right decision. Not the right state of mind," ESPN's Gabriele Marcotti wrote on X, platform formerly known as Twitter.

A youth product of Roma, Edoardo Bove has played for the senior side since 2021. He made 65 appearances before Roma sent him on a one-year loan move to Fiorentina this season. In December 2023, Bove had signed a five-year contract extension until 2028.

Bove's collapse drew a parellel to scenes when Christian Eriksen of Denmark collapsed on the field during his side's Euro 2020 game against Finland. He suffered a cardiac arrest. The former Manchester United midfielder was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
