Mumbai: The city police had a rather action-filled morning on Thursday after they were forced to chase a drunk businessman for half an hour during which he hit barricades and cars. Worli businessman Sabyasachi Nishank (32), was caught after a 30-minute chase in Andheri East.

His speeding car rammed his SUV into two security barricades and three cars before being caught in the early hours of Thursday. According to police, Nishank drove for nearly 5 km with a broken barricade on his bonnet. While police followed him on bikes, the three persons whose car he rammed into, sought help from bikers to chase the man, a report in Times of India stated.

Then began a chase from Holy Family School with police and three motorists on bikes, the report added. "Police, along with the three motorists on bikes, intercepted the SUV near Seepz bus stop. With Nishank refusing to step out, the motorists dragged him out of his vehicle after breaking the window.," traffic constable Jaywant More said, the report added.

"A mob assaulted him before we could free him from their clutches," he added in his complaint. Andheri police arrested Nishank and he was charged under BNS sections 281 (rash driving), 324 (mischief), and the Motor Vehicle Act section 185 (drunk driving).

Nishank's medical examination at a hospital showed that the presence of alcohol content in his blood. It was about 42.5/100. "The legal blood alcohol content limit is 30mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, which is less than what was found in the blood of the accused," an officer said, quoted Times of India.

A court then remanded him in police custody till Monday.
