Vicky Kaushal’sChhaava has averted a clash with Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule. Originally scheduled to release on December 6, the makers have postponed it to 2025. Now, the period drama will hit silver screens on February 14, 2025.
Chhaava gets new release date
Chhaava, directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Studio, will release globally ahead of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti 2025. The date was earlier blocked by Shahid Kapoor and Pooja Hegde’s Deva, which has been preponed to January 31, 2025.

At an event, Vicky spoke about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He plays the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the heir of the Maratha kingdom founder in the film. The actor said, “Aap India ke itihaas me jaa ke dekhenge to Sambhaji jaise, Chhatrapati Shivaji jaise itne superheroes hain ki sab superheroes fail ho jayenge unke saamne. Aur bohot zaruri hai ki hum aisi kahaniya dikhayein logo ko. Hum saath me celebrate karein. Main humesha kehta hoon ki West mein unko Avengers banane ki zarurat hoti hai kyuki unke paas waise superheroes hain nahi. Apne paas na asli superhero hai (When delving into India's history, one can find numerous superheroes such as Sambhaji and Chhatrapati Shivaji. These individuals surpass all fictional superheroes. It's crucial to share their tales and honor their legacy. The West lacks such superheroes, so they have to make Avengers. We have real superheroes in India.).”
About Chhaava
Chhaava is based on the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who ruled from 1681 to 1689. Rashmika Mandanna plays Vicky’s wife, Yesubai Bhonsale, whereas Divya Dutta as his stepmother Soyarabai and Akshaye Khanna will be seen as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
