kidnapped at 7, up man returns home after three decades of separation

New Delhi: A seven-year-old boy kidnapped from Ghaziabad, near Delhi, has been reunited with his family after more than 30 years. Raju, now 37, revealed that he was abducted while walking home from school with his sister. The man, whose family resides in Sahibabad, disappeared on September 8, 1993. Although a police report was filed at the time, the boy could not be found, and the case remained unresolved for decades.

Raju revealed that his kidnappers had sent him to Rajasthan, where he had lived for all these years. Upon arriving in Rajasthan, Raju was beaten up regularly and made to work. In return, he was given only one roti in the evening and was tied up at night to prevent him from escaping.

Eventually, Raju managed to escape from his captors and boarded a truck headed for Delhi. While he remembered the city, he had forgotten the name of his parents and the area where he had lived, NDTV reported.

After reaching the capital, he visited several police stations seeking help, but received none. Five days ago, Raju arrived at the Khoda police station in Ghaziabad, where the officers took care of him. They provided him with shoes, arranged food and water, and shared his information through media and social media platforms.

Soon after, Raju's uncle contacted the police and his family came to receive him. The matter is being investigated, said senior police officer Rajnish Upadhyay, confirming the man's account of his coming to the police station..

"I am feeling so good now," Raju told NDTV sitting at a Hanuman temple near the police station. "I thank the Lord Hanuman. For days I have prayed that he reunite me with my family".
