Bishop TD Jakes of Potter's House Church in Dallas suffered a medical emergency while delivering a sermon today. The 67-year-old pastor was in the middle of his speech when he started feeling uneasy. Shortly after, his microphone dropped and he fell silent.
Social media users claimed pastor Jakes suffered a stroke.
One user on X said, "He is showing signs of extreme stress and high blood pressure." "That is a stroke or paralysis attacking him; if he had fallen from that chair, he would have suffered a severe stroke."
Another person commented, "Man had a stroke."
"Prayers go out, Pastor T.D. Jakes reported had a stroke while preaching to his congregation today. His current status is unknown at the moment," said a third person on X, formerly Twitter.
However, the church said it was a slight health incident. Following the incident, the church released a statement regarding the pastor's health.
"During today’s service, Bishop T.D. Jakes experienced a slight health incident and received immediate medical attention following his powerful hour long message. Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals. The entire Potter's House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community. Thank you for your understanding and continued prayers."
