India captain Rohit Sharma has left for Australia and he is on his way to the continent to participate in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The India captain was spotted at the Mumbai airport on Saturday (November 23) evening. Rohit stayed back in India for the birth of his second child. He hinted at missing the Perth Test match while speaking to the media after the end of the Test series against New Zealand.

India head coach, Gautam Gambhir did not confirm his absence before leaving for Australia. On November 15, Rohit announced that he and his wife were blessed with their second child. Soon, it was confirmed that he would be missing the series opener.

A few days back, Cricbuzz reported about Rohit's arrival date in Australia and he will the country on Sunday (November 24). Rohit might join the team at the Optus Stadium on the fourth day's play.

He will be leading India in the pink-ball match against the Prime Minister's XI on November 30 and December 1. The pink-ball Test between India and Australia is scheduled to be played from December 6 to 10 in Adelaide.

Jasprit Bumrah is captaining Team India in Rohit's absence. It's the second time when he is captaining the Test team. The senior pacer made his captaincy debut against England in the one-off Test in 2022.

Talking of the ongoing game, India are at the top and hold a big lead of 218 runs. After being bowled out for a mere total of 150 in their first innings, India have put on a total of 172 in the second innings without losing any wicket. Yashasvi Jaiswal is batting on 90 whereas KL Rahul has scored 62 runs.

Bumrah shone with the ball and took a five-fer as Australia got bowled out for 104 in their first innings. Debutant Harshit Rana dismissed three batsmen while Mohammed Siraj scalped 2 wickets. Australia conceded a lead of 46 runs.
