FIP Promotion India Padel Open: In the first match of the afternoon session at the FIP Promotion India Padel Open at Bennett University on Saturday, November 23, the Spanish duo of Pol Alsina and Edu Altimires Ros delivered a brilliant performance, beating compatriots Sergi Guimet Bigas and Joel Olivera Palos 6-4, 6-1.

In a tightly contested opening game, Alsina and Ros took the bragging rights to catch top-seeded Bigas and Palos off-guard. But the latter made a strong comeback and took the second game to level scores at 1-all.

Alsina and Ros kept their energy up and bagged the next two games to bag a 3-1 lead over the top seeds. But Bigas and Palos put up a spirited performance to find themselves at 2-3.

Alsina and Ros managed to maintain their lead and after the sixth game, led 4-2. Bigas and Palos then made a stunning comeback as a brilliant shot from the former from outside the court helped them bag a crucial point and took them to 3-4.

Alsina and Ros increased the gap to 5-3 as unforced errors from the top seeds mounted. But Bigas and Palos never stopped mounting pressure on them and won the ninth game to get closer, at 4-5.

Alsina and Ros won the 10th game and bagged the first set 6-4 to stun the top-seeded Bigas and Palos. The former pair began the second set in the same vein and won four consecutive games with some superior shot-making.

It took a bunch of unforced errors from Alsina and Ros to help Bigas and Palos break their run and after the fifth game, found themselves at 1-4.

Alsina and Ros didn't take much time to find their footing back and bagged two consecutive games to win the second set 6-1, with a commanding performance throughout the match.

Bennett University (BU), a premier institution under the Times Group, has made history by becoming the first university in India to host an international padel tournament. The FIP Promotion India Padel Open is being held from November 21 to 24, with the Round of 16 matches of the men's doubles competition scheduled for Friday.
