A court filing, reportedly from Kehlani's former partner Javaughn Young-White, has surfaced online, alleging that the singer is involved with a "cult" and has permitted unconventional practices involving their daughter, Adeya. Javaughn claims Kehlani once described their 5-year-old daughter's spirit as "one of her wives in a past life." Times Now was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the circulating document.
The document further claims that Kehlani allows a member of the cult, an adult woman, "to take bath with Adeya while being under the influence of psychedelic drugs." Javaughn claims that while Kehlani is on a tour, their daughter is in the care of members of the cult that the singer calls "Messiah."
"Adeya sleeps in the bed with, and is given baths by random adult members of the cult and she is often in the bedroom alone with some of these people," the document claims. "I have been trying to express my fear, anger, and concern to Kehlani about our daughter's living environment when she is on tour and when she is with her cult, who essentially live in her home. However, instead of addressing my feelings, she resorts to disparaging me online to her millions of social media followers."
Screenshots of the document have gone viral on social media, sparking reactions.
"Ok now this is where I’m gonna start disagreeing with her. this isn’t okay. This is too far. Even if it’s women, they don’t know your daughter. You don’t know what they’re doing to her. And that’s just weird," one person commented.
Another wrote, "nah that kehlani news is gross i’m sorry. like that’s wraps for me man because what do you mean your daughter was your wife in another life ?!?!?"

Kehlani and guitarist Javaughn Young-White welcomed their daughter in March 2019, after dating for almost a year. They, however, broke up shortly after but have continued to co-parent privately. In August 2024, Young-White filed for full custody of Adeya. He claimed that Kehlani is in a cult that is controlling her actions "including when it comes to the upbringing of our daughter."
At the time, Kehlani denied some of the claims made in the lawsuit.
"I strongly deny any claims that I have put my child in harm's way, or left my child alone with anyone deemed dangerous or unsafe," Kehlani wrote in a statement on Instagram. "I also do not align with any of the allegations made against my former religious community that have been stated in the media."
