New Delhi: Sachin Vats, Founder-Director of Gurukul The School, who’s dedicated to shaping the future of education with forward-thinking approaches shared his views on accuracy issues with AI detection tools at a panel discussion titled AI in the Future Schools. Times Now’s Education Survey & Conclave 2024 (North Edition), presented by Onextel Communication was held at Taj Palace in New Delhi on November 10.
Sachin Vats discussed the role of technology and AI in enhancing education, focusing on how these tools can support personalized learning and improve student engagement. He emphasised the importance of integrating traditional teaching methods with AI-driven insights to create a balanced approach that fosters student growth. Vats also highlighted mental health support, noting that AI can play a crucial role in early intervention, helping educators address students' emotional and psychological needs.

Q: In so many cases it has been seen that AI detection tools have wrongly detected content as AI generated. A LinkedIn user posted that the Bible is “97% AI-generated”, the Bhagavad Gita, part of the Mahabharata and even the Preamble of the Indian Constitution is supposedly AI-generated, according to these flawed AI detectors. More recently a woman in Pakistan claimed that she was rejected in a job interview when AI detector wrongly flagged her content as copied. Given the potential risks with AI detection tool’s accuracy, to what extent can we rely on it for test assessments?
Sachin Vats said, "As schools, this is where our role comes because it is a tool which supplements. We are trying to make our childing understand the difference between fake and real and sometimes the hurry of taking everything on board, schools do a mistake. So, every school is different, they have a different philosophy and a re-analysis is important. They need to understand that they have an AI policy in place…I would strongly recommend that we have an AI expert identified and schools take them on board and they should guide teachers. Because technology has a limitation."
