A 22-year-old man has been arrested after stones were thrown at the Vande Bharat Express in Uttarakhand on Thursday, causing a crack in one of its windows and alarming passengers on board. The incident occurred on the train’s route from Dehradun to Lucknow, near Kharanja Qutubpur village, in the Laksar-Moradabad railway section.

According to police reports, the stones struck the C-6 coach of the Vande Bharat train (22546), causing a significant crack in one of the windows. The loco pilot immediately notified the control room in Moradabad, which subsequently relayed the information to the Railway Police Force (RPF).

RPF personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene at Kharanja Qutubpur village, where they conducted inquiries and arrested 22-year-old Salman in connection with the attack. The arrest was confirmed by RPF Inspector Ravi Kumar Siwach, who stated that a case had been filed against Salman under the Railway Act.

Northern Railways’ Chief Public Relations Officer, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, assured the public that swift action was taken once the authorities were informed of the incident. "The accused has been arrested and a case has been registered," Upadhyay said.

The stone-throwing incident on the Vande Bharat Express caused a brief period of panic among passengers, although no injuries were reported. The incident underscores ongoing concerns about safety on India’s railway network, with authorities pledging to take firm action against such disruptions.
