tom hanks here pokes fun at movie critics, recalls how negative reviewer changed opinion on that thing you do

Tom Hanks has taken a jibe at movie critics by calling them "cocksuckers." The Hollywood legend pointed out at how a negative reviewer's point of view about his 1996 directorial debut That Thing You Do changed over time.

The 69-year-old recently appeared on the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, to promote his new film Here. On the sides, he was asked about That Thing You Do, and how it became a “cult classic” after initial snub.

Tom Hanks' comment on film critics

Hanks jokingly said, "Let me tell you something about these cocksuckers who write about movies… Can I say that?"

He added, "Somebody who wrote about (That Thing You Do wrote) that ‘Tom Hanks has to stop hanging around on with veterans of TV because this is just like it’s shot on TV, and it’s not much of anything.’ That same person then wrote about the cult classic That Thing You Do!. Same exact person. All you need is 20 years between now and then, and it ends up speaking somewhere."

While he claimed it was "the thing we all signed up for," he opined that time can change a person's opinion about a film.
