Chhath Puja 2024 Arghya Date And Timings: Chhath Puja is a major Hindu festival which is celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. This grand four-day festival involves worshiping Chhathi Maiya and Surya Dev. According to sacred texts, the Sun God is considered the foundation of life, a provider of health, energy, and prosperity. As per the Hindu calendar, Chhath Puja in 2024 started on November 5 and will conclude on November 8.

During this period, women observe a strict waterless fast for the well-being of their family.

The main fast of Chhath festival is observed on Shashthi Tithi. However, this festival starts from Chaturthi Tithi and ends on Saptami Tithi after offering Arghya at sunrise in the morning. The main day of this four-day fast is today, Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Arghya will be offered to the setting sun on November 7 and it will end after offering Arghya to the rising sun on November 8.

Chhath Puja Morning Arghya Time

The time of Ushakal Arghya of Chhath Puja is at sunrise on Friday, 8 November 2024 at 06:38am. Along with this, the fasting person will take the prasad of Chhath and then break the fast.

Method for Offering Arghya to Lord Surya

To offer arghya to the Sun, start by taking a clean brass or copper pot. Fill it with sacred water and add a few drops of raw milk, some rice grains (akshat), and red sandalwood. You can also add a few flower petals. Then, face towards the Sun and, while chanting the Sun mantra in your mind, slowly pour out the water as an offering. This ritual is believed to bless one with long life, happiness, and peace, as well as to remove negativity from the mind.
