Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers has said that Royal Challengers Bangalore should target Yuzvendra Chahal at the upcoming mega auctions and bring him back to 'where he belongs'. He added that the franchise should target top-class bowlers in the IPL auction who can be very successful at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Despite a brilliant comeback to seal a spot in the IPL 2024 playoffs, Bangalore fell short in the Eliminator, losing to the Rajasthan Royals. They retained Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar and Yash Dayal ahead of the auction and will look to build a stronger team around these three.
Chahal was crucial to Bangalore's performance from 2014 to 2021 but was released ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, where he was picked up by Rajasthan.

"The good news is we still have Virat. And we didn't spend too much on the retentions. There's a lot in the bank still, which I am very happy about. Let's get Yuzi (Chahal) back at RCB where he belongs. He should have never left," De Villiers said while speaking on his YouTube channel.

Chahal was the Purple Cap winner in his first season with Rajasthan in IPL 2022 and is the all-time leading wicket-taker in the tournament with 295 wickets in 160 matches.
Chahal helped Rajasthan qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2022 and IPL 2024, including the final in the earlier season but the franchise didn't retain him.

Besides Chahal, De Villiers also suggested the names of his compatriot Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravichandran Ashwin.
"My four priority players are Yuzvendra Chahal, Kagiso Rabada, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ravi Ashwin. We can make a plan with the rest of the money we have left in the auction. If you can't get Rabada, I get hold of Mohammed Shami," De Villiers suggested.
