exclusive! no final decision taken on bcci secretary name

After reports of Rohan Jaitley in the lead to replace Jay Shah emerged in the media, senior BCCI official has confirmed no final decision has been taken yet.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah will be taking over as ICC chairman on 1st December leaving the former post vacant. Speculations have been rife with who his replacement will be. A few names have been doing the rounds but names that gained prominence are Anil Patel (Gujarat) and Rohan Jaitley (Delhi).

After several media reports yesterday of Rohan Jaitley in the lead to become the BCCI secretary, senior BCCI official has confirmed to TIMES NOW that no name has been finalised yet. A final call on the name will be taken after consultation with all stakeholders.

Jay Shah, who has served as the BCCI Honorary Secretary since October 2019 and Chair of the Asian Cricket Council since January 2021, became the youngest independent chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Shah, 35, was elected unopposed after current chairman Greg Barclay refused to seek a third term.

“I am committed to working closely with the ICC team and our member nations to further globalize cricket. We stand at a critical juncture where it is increasingly important to balance the coexistence of multiple formats, promote the adoption of advanced technologies, and introduce our marquee events to new global markets. Our goal is to make cricket more inclusive and popular than ever before”, he had stated after winning the election unopposed.

The announcement of BCCI secretary’s name is expected in the last week of November.
