Ashley Grayson, an online course tutor was sentenced to prison for 10 years on Thursday after she was found guilty in a failed murder-for-hire case.

Grayson and her husband, Joshua, were criminally convicted for the plot in July 2023. Federal prosecutors stated that the couple were in contacts with a contract killer in Tennessee between the months of August and September 2022. The Mississippi-based couple paid an amount to the killer to murder a person identified as 'D.H' in the federal indictment. But the person was not hurt in any circumstances, Newsbreak reported.

In March, Grayson was found guilty by the jury in the case , while her husband was cleared of any crime.

The online tutor was popular after she launched her business, 'Digital Course Recipe' in 2021, in which she taught people to transform their interests into an online course. She gained traction after she was reportedly making $1 million within 60 minutes, the news outlet stated.

Her online popularity flourished after her extravagant proposal to her husband Joshua Grayson, that also featured a performance from R&B singer Monica on a yacht. Several videos and photos of the proposal surfaced on social media that earned the duo a massive social media following.

However, a year after their engagement, there were allegations that the fact Grayson earning money from her online business was exaggerated. The money came from an employee's compensation deal after she lost her finger at her previous job.

In another instance, a woman who brought Grayson's online course accused her of cheating her out of $2000.

The popular online tutor also filed a defamation suit against Derricka Harwell, a financial coach, and alleged that a comment that Harwell posted under one of Grayson's posts was "false, defamatory and dangerous."

The defamation case also claimed that Garwell's post damaged Grayson's online presence and personal reputation. The case also made people believe that Harwell was "stalked and harassed."
