Vidya Balan’s return to the popular Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise left fans excited. Especially after she recreated her iconic bed-lifting scene inBhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s teaser. In the threequel, she lifted an entire throne with one hand. This scene played a key role in deepening the mystery in the film.

In an exclusive interview with Zoom,Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s cinematographer, Manu Anand, revealed that Vidya’s throne-lifting scene was a tribute to the original horror-comedy. He added that the particular sequence had to be shot carefully in order to retain the legacy of the franchise.
Manu said, “When Vidya Balan lifts the throne, it is to evoke a sense of nostalgia and pay tribute to the original. We’re not trying to outdo the original. When you are paying tribute to the original, you have to be careful. As a DoP, there is a responsibility to not do a disservice to the original. I wanted to stick to the power of Vidya Balan’s persona while she lifts an entire throne with one hand. As an actor, she is so graceful. I feel Vidya Balan’s performance, the setting, background score and lighting have done the magic.”

He added, “Anees Bazmee was particular about the way he wanted this scene. It had to give a sense of power to Vidya Balan’s character.”
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 plot
Directed by Anees Bazmee, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 was released in theatres on November 1 along with Singham Again. The horror comedy also stars Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri. The film is about Rooh Baba who has to identify the real Manjulika between Mallika (Vidya Balan) and Mandira (Madhuri Dixit) to free Meera’s (Triptii Dimri) ancestral property from evil spirits.
