Chennai: A 15-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu’s Thanjavur was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a house in Chennai where she was employed as a domestic help, police said on Saturday. The couple who employed her has been detained.

According to a PTI report, the police stated that there were wounds on the victim's body that were reportedly caused by branding with an iron box. The Aminjikarai police have registered a case, and the investigation is ongoing.

In a separate incident, a teenage boy was beaten to death by a man over celebrating Diwali in Ice House of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The incident took place on Thursday night when the accused man had picked up a fight with the victim, said the police. The police found out that the deceased was a school drop out who used to work with his parents in a printing press.

On the night of the incident, the victim teen was walking in their neighbourhood when Karthik alias 'Crocodile' Karthik along with a few of his friends appeared. The deceased was cornered by the accused, and started a quarrel. After which, Karthik slapped the deceased. The minor fell on the ground. Seeing the victim in an unconscious state, the accused fled from the scene.

Meanwhile, the victim's friends rushed him to the Government Royapettah Hospital (GRH). The victim was declared dead upon arrival. The Ice House Police launched an inquiry in the matter, while registering a murder case. Locals told the police that there was a quarrel over celebrating Diwali in the area which led to the kid's murder. A manhunt operation was launched by the police to nab Karthik.
