In the digital era, job seekers try various strategies to ensure their resumes get shortlisted. Some use Artificial Intelligence (AI), while others rely on graphic design tools to make their applications stand out. However, a young professional reverted to sending a handwritten letter, which surprised a top executive at the online food delivery app Swiggy. Saptarshi Prakash, an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Design, shared how he received this handwritten letter by post. Prakash, based in Bengaluru, took to X and wrote: “Received a physical letter from a designer wanting to join Swiggy with a concept,” he posted, along with images of the letter.
In the letter, the candidate proposed a new concept aimed at enhancing user experience on the Swiggy app. Prakash noted that while there are no current openings for UX/UI design positions, he invited the candidate to share the idea via email. “I would love to have the opportunity to present it to you and the team if given the chance… What I am truly hoping for is a single opportunity to express myself and showcase my work in front of you," the job seeker said.
Prakash said that there is no opening for UX/UI design positions but invited the candidate to share the idea on email. “While we may not have a relevant role at Swiggy for you at the moment, I’ve definitely taken note of your initiative… I’d also love to review the concept you have developed. Would you mind dropping me an email? I’m sure you’ll find my email address—you found my physical one!” he wrote on LinkedIn.
