The incident occurred on the eve of Diwali when Vijay Verma, reportedly intoxicated, reported the theft of the potatoes. When the police arrived at his home and questioned him, Verma explained that he had planned to cook the potatoes and enjoy them with some drinks but was distressed when he found the vegetables missing. The situation led the police to record their interaction with Verma, and the video has since gone viral.
During the conversation, Verma defended his drinking habits, stating, “We work hard and drink alcohol for a few days in the evening, but the question is not about alcohol. It’s about the potatoes. Find them."
