Popular late-night show host Jimmy Kimmel sparked controversy after asking voters voting for former president Donald Trump to vote late on November 5, and humorously suggesting that they should vote on 'Thursday or Friday.' While the comedian most likely commented humorously, many on social media equated it with Douglass Mackey, a Trump supporter who was convicted in 2023 for falsely Democrat voters to vote via text in the 2016 election.
"Jimmy Kimmel instructs viewers that if they’re voting for Trump they should vote late like Thursday or Friday," the conservative X account Libs of TikTok wrote on X. "Wasn’t Douglass Mackey sentenced to prison for doing something similar? Will @TheJusticeDept investigate Jimmy Kimmel?"
