Rewa: A newly married woman was allegedly gangraped by a group of eight men in Rewa district, Madhya Pradesh. She visited a picnic spot near a temple with her husband on October 21, when the alleged incident took place.
The accused were in an intoxicated state and were partying when they saw the couple, after which they attacked the husband. They allegedly tied him to a tree, assaulted him, and then gangraped his wife for 'hours'.
The accused recorded the video of the alleged crime and also threatened the couple to post it online if they complained about it.

The police have taken the suspect into custody and questioned them. The survivor stated that there were five people involved in this; however, police suspect that there were at least seven people involved in this. One of the accused said, "We went to a temple near Gud; we were bathing and having food. I was forced to consume drugs and alcohol. I was intoxicated. Suddenly, a couple arrived there on a bike, and they were spending time behind a big cliff when one of us saw them."
"We were five people; however, three people came later on a bicycle," he said further. Following the alleged incident, the accused claimed, "The woman came to me and asked for the mobile. I gave her the phone."
MP accused
On Monday, the couple went to the Gud Thana area under the Bhairav Baba Hill area, where over 5 people reached in a drunken state. The cops recovered videos of the accused's, in which they were seen partying and drinking. According to the Police Commissioner, Vivek Singh, "The couple went to the Gud area, where some men were already present, who were bathing, partying, and cooking food. The couple sat somewhere else. The accused approached the couple, had a fight with the husband, and thrashed him."
Singh further stated, "The woman has alleged that the accused has also made her video and threatened to viral it on the internet. The incident took place on October 21, but due to fear, the couple did not approach the police earlier. They lodged an FIR the next day on October 22."
As per the procedure, all the documentation was done, and the woman was sent for the medical examination, said Singh. A case has been registered under Section 70 of Bhartiya Nayay Sanhita (BNS) (Gangrape).
Further investigation is underway.
