On October 25, HYBE’s founder Bang Si-hyuk was honoured at this year’s Asia Game Changer Awards that was held in New York.

In his acceptance speech, the HYBE chairman opened up about the global nature of his work. "Since the start of my career to today, I have and I continue to collaborate with musicians from very diverse backgrounds, and these experiences have taught me the importance of embracing and respecting diversity. And today as a music producer who continuously seeks to explore different genres, and also as the chairman of HYBE, which is a company that spans across Korea, the U.S., Japan, and Latin America," he said, before adding, "I believe that blending unique cultural elements can spark unparalleled creativity and fullness in music."

Award-winning journalist Christiane Amanpour, The Asian American Foundation (TAAF), Academy Award-winning filmmakers Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin and Emmy-nominated actor-writer Bowen Yang were also honoured at the prestigious event.

About Bang Si-hyuk

Bang Si-hyuk debuted as a songwriter and composer while he was in college. In 1997, he met Park Jin-young and they partnered together as a songwriting duo. When Park Jin-young founded JYP Entertainment, Bang Si-hyuk joined him as a composer, arranger and producer. Under the label, he wrote and produced hit songs for g.o.d, Rain, Wonder Girls, 2AM, Teen Top, Baek Ji-young and many more K-pop artists.

In 2005, Bang Si-hyuk left JYP Entertainment to establish his own label, Big Hit Entertainment. He signed 8Eight under the label in 2007. Following that, in 2010, he signed a contract with JYP Entertainment to jointly manage 2AM. In 2012, Bang Si-hyuk formed Glam, the label's first girl group, in collaboration with Source Music. The songwriter-composer then went on to create BTS, who debuted in 2013.
