Diwali Skincare Tips: As Diwali draws near, people are seeking different ways to enhance their beauty and attain a radiant glow for the upcoming celebrations. Understanding the significance of skincare is essential; however, an increasing number of people are turning to the ancient principles of Ayurveda.

Practising self-care with natural active agents that are known for their nourishing and restorative effects makes it possible to obtain a healthy complexion while enhancing the feeling of holistic well-being. Embracing such practices, which are quite ancient in their origin, goes beyond personal grooming as it is also consistent with the environmental and health-conscious morals of the society.

We speak with Astha Jain, co-founder of AYUVYA, to understand how effective Ayurvedic skincare routines are to improve one's appearance and promote skin health. She shares the benefits of including time-honoured natural ingredients and offers practical tips for achieving a beautiful complexion just in time for the festivities.

Understanding Ayurvedic Principles

Ayurveda is the old Indian system of medicine, which gives importance to the balance between body, mind, and spirit. Ayurveda asserts that every human being is born with a specific constitution or dosha. The changes in doshas may reflect the impact of your skincare products or regimen. There are three major doshas—Vata, Pitta, and Kapha—and they influence what will work for you.

Key Ingredients for Glowing Skin

Turmeric: Turmeric is one of the greatest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant agents that may be used for skin care while reducing blemishes, giving a brightening, and even-out tone to the skin. A mask can be prepared by mixing turmeric powder with yoghurt or honey for a healthy glow.

Aloe Vera: This soothing ingredient hydrates the skin, reduces inflammation, and provides essential nutrients. Aloe vera juice may be applied directly to the skin or blended with lemon juice to create a refreshing face mask.

Neem: This herb is so popular for its antibacterial properties, and thus it works very efficiently as a cleansing tool and in fighting acne infections. A paste of Neem leaf or even Neem oil can be used as a spot treatment to prevent and reduce new acne breakouts.

Honey: A natural soothing ingredient, honey also retains moisture and provides an antimicrobial boost. It can be combined with a vast array of ingredients to create nourishing masks or used on its own as a quick brightening treatment.

Saffron: With high amounts of antioxidants, saffron fights free radicals that cause ageing and dullness. It also contains anti-inflammatory effects that help to decrease irritation and redness, in addition to the natural brightening agents, bringing an even skin tone and radiance. Lastly, saffron also has antibacterial properties. Hence, it is a good option for people who have acne issues.

Rose Water: Rose water is a natural toner that maintains the pH level of your skin, and it soothes the skin. Spritzing rose water throughout the day keeps the complexion refreshing to the maximum and its natural glow intact.

Easy Ayurvedic Skincare Routine for Diwali

Morning Routine

  • Cleansing: Start with a gentle cleanser that has ingredients like neem or honey. It not only cleans the pores but also won’t strip the skin of its natural oils.
  • Toning: The activity must be done with rose water. It hydrates and prepares the skin to absorb better subsequent products.
  • Moisturising: Smoothen with organic, light moisturising cream enriched with the nutrients in aloe vera and sandalwood. Use products without artificial chemicals to preserve healthy skin.
  • Sunscreen: Always use natural sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays, especially if you plan on spending a lot of time outside during the celebrations.

Evening Routine

  • Cleaning: Use some natural oil or mild cleanser to clean your face, removing the makeup and dust that gathers during the daytime.
  • Exfoliation: Do this once or twice a week by preparing a homemade paste of sugar, coffee, or oatmeal with honey for scrubbing and improving the glow of your skin.
  • Face Mask: Treat yourself to the best that you can have; one can go for an organic face mask made from turmeric and yoghurt, which helps reduce pigmentation and enhance glow. Keep for 15 to 20 minutes, and then wash it off with lukewarm water.
  • Serum: You can also go for serums that are infused with natural oils like argan or jojoba oil, which nourishes your skin and helps even out your skin tone.
  • Night Cream: Hydrate and repair your skin overnight with a luxurious night cream enriched with herbal extracts.
