Kishore Kumar’s biopic is a major talking point in the Indian film fraternity. Anurag Basu is helming it under Bhushan Kumar’s home banner T-Series. Aamir Khan is reportedly in talks with the makers to play the legendary singer. Before Anurag, Shoojit Sircar was supposed to make the Kishore Kumar biopic and had done 3-4 years of research. However, he shelved the idea.
In a recent interview, Shoojit opened up about his decision to not make the Kishore Kumar biopic after researching it in detail. The filmmaker said he didn’t continue with the film as Anurag was also working on the same subject.

Shoojit told Scroll, “I had been working on a script on the life of Kishore Kumar. I did almost three to four years of research with the family, but there were a couple of other scripts being worked on at the same time, including by Anurag Basu.”

He added, “I had developed a draft, but when I learnt about Anurag, I didn’t think there was any point in two people doing the same thing. So that went on ice. Once you lose the momentum, it’s a big challenge to go back to it.”
Aamir Khan in talks to play Kishore Kumar in biopic
A source close to the film shared with Pinkvilla, “The Kishore Kumar biopic is a subject close to the heart of Anurag Basu and Bhushan Kumar and they are looking to bring it to the spectacle in the best possible way. Aamir Khan is also a big admirer of Kishore Kumar and loved the vision that Basu has to bring the life of legend to the spectacle. The filmmaker has treated it very differently, and that’s what has fascinated Aamir the most.”
The much-anticipated Kishore Kumar biopic is yet to be officially announced. The cast hasn’t been finalised yet.
