India will look for redemption when they host New Zealand in the second Test in Pune on Thursday. Despite their eight-wicket defeat against the Kiwis, there were a lot of positives as the likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant showed gritty determination in the second innings. India succumbed to their lowest defeat on home soil when they were bowled out for a mere 46 runs and Rohit Sharma will be aware of their position in the World Test Championship.
The Indian team is currently leading the WTC table but another mishap in the Pune Test would make their case difficult. They are well-positioned to secure a place in the WTC final for the third consecutive time but they have to be at their best in the remaining two Test matches in order to set the ball rolling.
