Not the Kishore Kumar biopic. But what Aamir Khan is now planning next is a sequel to his 1994 cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, which starred Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, with his current favourite director Rajkumar Santoshi.
A source very close to the project has spilled the beans. “Santoshi and Aamir are very close partners after Lahore 1947 which Aamir produced and Santoshi directed. They have been discussing several projects. One of them is Char Din Ki Zaindagi. But now that project may happen later. Both Aamir and Santoshi are gung-ho about an Andaaz Apna Apna sequel," they revealed.
However, the project may not be called Andaz Apna Apna 2 for copyright reasons. The rights for the remake are with producer Vinay Sinha’s daughter. Santoshi and Aamir may go with a different title altogether.

This new and sudden development, which is being revealed for the first time, comes at a time when laughter is seen to be the best box office medicine.
Says Santoshi, “When Andaz Apna Apna released, it was very badly marketed and distributed. Nobody knew the film was coming. We got a below-average opening. The film has acquired a cult status over the years. People remember each and every dialogue of Andaz Apna Apna, just as they remember every dialogue of Mughal-e-Azam and Sholay.”
Santoshi plans a sequel but strictly by public demand. The Damini filmmaker doesn’t believe in creating a franchise just by doing sequels. He added, “But the demand for a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna is unbelievable. If I don’t make the film, someone else will. That I won’t allow. I’ve ideas for two sequels.”
