Apple is rumored to release the first Macs powered by M4 as soon as next week, as Bloomberg's Mark Gurman and leaker Sonny Dickson claimed. He started to hint at these new Macs on social media, getting in line with the busy schedule that Apple has with the launch of Apple Intelligence on Monday and the earnings reports on Thursday, MacRumors has reported.
More proof that Apple is getting the world ready for a soon announcement comes in the form of the company just inviting journalists and content creators to experience firsthand Los Angeles next Wednesday. This only fuels speculations that the launch may happen before then.
Yet, as huge as this news is, Gurman couldn't help but add that he didn't specify the day when the M4 Mac will be launched. On the other hand, Dickson is teasing the air with the possibility that a new model for Mac mini with five USB-C ports may land even sooner, perhaps this week. Dickson has a track record of spilling many of Apple's previously unknown products in the past, but not all his hardware predictions have proven to be accurate. Still, these leaks strongly suggest Apple will make an announcement within the next few days. This most likely will be done in a press release or online event.
Some of the rumored products that Apple is supposed to unveil include the following:
- A new, entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, based on the M4 chip, instead of the one available in the market today .
- 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, running on the more powerful M4 Pro and M4 Max chips respectively.
- iMac-all-new version, utilizing the M4 chip
Completely updated version of the Mac mini using the M4 chip with two front-facing USB-C ports, based on either M4 or M4 Pro configurations and is shaped like an Apple TV.
Here, USB-C versions of Apple's Magic Mouse, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Keyboard accessories.
Perhaps the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip leaked in a round of unboxing videos last month. Those videos suggested those M4 Macs were set to arrive in November 2024. Which means they could be announced next week, but might not ship to customers during that following month.
The company might host a webcast for the M4 Mac, such as they did last year for the "Scary Fast" show, or at least put out an uneventful release from the Apple Newsroom website. Either way, an official word is probably coming soon.
