woman scammed bangalore airport video bengaluru airport not at fault clarifies woman who lost rs 87000 to lounge app explains how

Bengaluru: A woman named Bhargavi Mani has alleged that she was scammed by lounge staff at the Bengaluru Airport. The woman shared a self-made video, explaining how the accused staff asked her to show her credit card, download an app, and then to share screen for running some security checks. Nearly a month after, the woman received a message that an amount of Rs 87,000 was transferred from her account. Mani immediately flagged the issue with the concerned bank, and blocked her credit card. However, she had grown suspicious soon after she stopped getting calls from her contacts.

The woman shared that she had reached the airport around five hours earlier on September 29, and approached the accused staff for a lounge. They directed her to download a “lounge app,” and required a credit card for some verification. As the victim was not carrying the physical copy, she showed them the image. Following that, she was asked to screen share, and some checks for facial recognition, citing security purposes.

After this, she had stopped receiving calls and messages on her mobile phone. At first, she assumed that it was because of a bad network, but she grew suspicious when a friend asked why a male is receiving your calls. The woman ignored that as well until she received a message that Rs 87,125 were swiped out from her credit card in Bengaluru. The money was transferred to a Phonepay account.

The woman alleged that the accused used the lounge app to go into her phone, and redirect calls, and intercept OTPs for unauthorised transactions.

Bengaluru Airport is Not Responsible

However, Mani does not hold the Bengaluru Airport. In a separate video, she has clarified this, saying the authorities have reached out to her, and assisting her in the scam case.
