New Delhi: A blast outside a CRPF school in the Rohini area on Sunday could have been an attempt to threaten theCRPF installation. The explosion took place in the morning following which NIA, NSG and police teams reached the spot and are carrying out the searches. The agencies are now probing whether it was a ‘token bomb’ that that was exploded to send a signal to important government installations.

The initial forensic report says that theAmmonia that was used in the blast was “aquas” in nature. However, a large amount of explosives could not explode and there are material traces on the wall and street. The rest of the bomb or ammonia was scattered in the area.

Officials say after the explosion, a strong smell of ammonia and phosphate was found in the location and in the market area. The plumes of smoke was seen because of the controlled explosion that was carried out to defuse the bomb.

An FIR has been registered under sections of 3 the Explosive Act and Section 4 of Prevention of Damage to Public Property.

Blast Is A 'Signal' To CRPF

Meanwhile, the agencies are also probing if the accused(s)who carried out the blast wanted to send a message or a signal. The suspect(s) chose a location — school–that is run by a paramilitary force (in this case CRPF) and a place that is not in Central Delhi.

It is being ascertained if the timing and location show that whoever placed and triggered the blast wanted to send a message. The officials are now checking the explosives to find from where the suspect(s) procured the explosives.
