New Delhi: A woman and her three sons were arrested allegedly for killing a homeless man with sticks in Aman Vihar area in Rohini, Delhi. After the victim died, the accused family tried to cover up the matter by dumping his body at an isolated spot. The Delhi Police on Saturday said that a investigation team reached the spot after a tip-off, and found the man lying unconscious. He was taken to a hospital where the doctors declared him dead upon arrival. An investigation has been launched in the matter.

According to the police, the woman spotted the 30-year-old homeless man wandering around the house. She suspected that the victim, identified as Sandeep alias Bhura from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, had intention to conduct a robbery in the house. Following that, she and her sons caught the victim, and beaten him up with sticks.

"A woman identified as Sunita and her three sons — Sumit, Amit and Vineet — caught hold of Sandeep and thrashed him with sticks, leaving him critically injured," said a senior police officer.

Passersby Caught the Accused

After he was seriously injured, they put his body in an e-rickshaw, and took him to an empty spot to get rid of the body. The family was caught doing the act by the passersby who informed the police about the matter.

Upon reaching the spot, the police took Sandeep to the SGM Hospital where doctors declared him dead. The police have arrested the accused, and booked them under Section 103/3(5) (murder by a group) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. (BNS). The police is trying to establish the series of events that led to the death of the victim by checking CCTV footage.

The police revealed that Sandeep used to live on streets, and used to do odd jobs as a labourer in the area. His body has been kept at the SGM Hospital as the police wait for anyone from her family to show to claim the body.
