ind vs nz: rohit sharma left in disbelief by freak dismissal; indian captain's heartbroken reaction goes viral - watch

Indian captian Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Ajaz Patel in the second innings of the 1st Test against New Zealand after making a stylish half-century at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in what will go down as one of the most unluckiest dismissal in history.

After India walked out to bat having conceded a massive 354-run lead, Rohit looked determined to ensure India are able to make a comeback in the match. The 37-year-old looked at his fluent best and reached his half-century in just 58 balls.

Looking set for a big one, fortune betrayed the Indian captain after he attempted to defend a delivery by Patel. While Rohit's defense seemed perfect, he lost track of the ball which rolled over and hit the stumps.

Talking about the match, the first day of play was washed out due to rain and the second proved to be among the worst in Test cricket history for India. After Rohit won the toss and chose to bat first, India were bowled out for 46 which is their lowest Test score in history at home.

In reply, New Zealand batters looked untroubled by India's bowling unit and posted a huge total of 402 on the board. Devon Conway made a fine knock of 91 before Rachin Ravindra hit a century. Tim Southee chipped in with valuable half-century too.
