The comet was nearest to Earth on October, 13, but will be visible after sunset till the end of October.

According to NASA, the Atlas comet was seen through a telescope in South Africa and by China in 2023.

How Can You View The Atlas Comet?

According to KDKA TV, astronomical experts have said that the comet is visible to bare eyes, but for a better view, a pair of binoculars or telescope would be handy.

It would be more visible after sunset if the sky is clear. It is "highly unlikely" that it will be spotted during daylight hours, reported NASA.

Astronomer Diane Turnshek, a physics lecturer explained the accurate spot to view the comet and told KDKA TV , "Right after sunset looking west, maybe a little south, you should see the comet right as the glare of the sun goes away, and a coma, the dirty snowball part has a big, long trail, which is always away from the sun."

Another renowned astronomer Simonetta Frittelli said, "This one comes about every once every 80,000 years. Might seem like a lot to you, but the Neanderthals were walking the Earth at the time so they might have seen it," as reported by KDKA TV.
