We, who have built successful careers in one of the world's most innovative regions, want to amplify the call for justice. We are urging the government and judiciary to take swift and decisive action to ensure that Abhaya's killers are brought to justice and that adequate measures are put in place to prevent such tragedies from happening again.
Justice in the Abhaya case cannot be limited to the punishment of the perpetrators. It must also involve a systemic overhaul of the safety and security measures in place for women in medical colleges. We, the Indian-Americans from Silicon Valley stand in solidarity with the protests of the common people and demand immediate action by the government and judiciary by bringing all perpetrators who are directly or indirectly involved with this heinous crime to justice. Alongside, we also strongly appeal to the government to take necessary steps to ensure women’s safety at medical colleges and workplaces and create a threat free atmosphere conducive of fruitful work.
