Karwa Chauth Skin Care: When it comes to skincare, we unnecessarily make it very complicated for ourselves, thinking about what is safe for our skin. While you can worry about your skin’s health, you don’t need to spend a fortune on your skincare regime to get a celebrity-like glow. We are lucky that there are numerous natural ingredients available to us, and with Karwa Chauth in just three days, this is the perfect time to tweak your skincare routine and rejuvenate your skin in simple and effective ways.
Celebrated with much zeal, Karwachauth is a festival of love and devotion and a time for married Hindu women to pray for the long life of their husbands. Married women begin their fast at dawn and continue until they see the moon in the evening. While the day keeps all the women observing the fast busy, it is important to spare some time for self-care and look your best for the evening celebrations.
We speak with a cosmetologist and two beauty creators who reveal their tried-and-tested skincare routines for a celebrity-approved glow—each one inspired by simple, natural remedies. From ice water dips to homemade face masks, their simple and anti-ageing skincare tips will leave your skin looking its best for the celebrations.
Raw Milk, Rose Water, and Aloe Vera Gel for Face
Tanya Singh, a cosmetologist and content creator, believes in keeping things simple and natural. “When it comes to that festive glow, I’m all about keeping things natural. I use raw milk as a cleanser—it brightens my skin and helps with any breakouts as it has lactic acid. Then I follow it up with rose water as a toner to keep my skin hydrated. For moisturiser, I love doing a quick massage with aloe vera gel—it helps with redness and makes my skin feel super fresh,” Singh says.
“If I need some extra glow before an event, I mix up a yoghurt and honey mask the night before. You don’t need a complicated routine, just a few good, natural ingredients,” she says.
Her tip: Please avoid putting lemon juice or baking soda on your face. These aren’t meant to be put on the skin.
Ice Water for Face Inspired by Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone
Hiba Hasan, a beauty creator, shares a secret used by celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone. “Who knew something as simple as ice water is one of the reasons behind the glow in celebrities?” she says.
“Apart from its benefits like reducing redness and puffiness, it’s also incredibly refreshing and a perfect way to start your morning skincare routine. Simply take a bowl of ice-cold water and dip your face in for a few seconds. This boosts blood flow to the skin and boosts collagen production. Follow this with your regular skincare routine, and you’re set to go,” Hasan says.
Besan, Milk, and Turmeric Ubtan for Face Inspired by Priyanka Chopra
For Anjani Bhoj, a beauty creator, a natural approach has been ingrained since childhood. “One thing I always do is apply an ubtan two times a week, and with Diwali being just around the corner, here’s my and Priyanka Chopra’s go-to ubtan for clear, glowing skin.”
She shares the recipe: “All you need is 2 tbsp. gram flour (besan), 1/4 teaspoon turmeric (haldi) powder, 4-5 drops lime juice, 1 tablespoon full cream yoghurt, and milk to form a paste. Allow the mask to sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.”
For Bhoj, it’s all about letting your “natural beauty shine through” this festive season.
