bill clinton against kamala harris? ex prez's comment on laken riley's death sparks questions

A comment made by former president Bill Clinton at a fish fry in Fort Valley, Georgia on Monday went viral as a supposed attack on Kamala Harris, who the Democrat endorsed at the Democratic National Convention. Encouraging voters to vote for the Harris Tim Walz ticket, Clinton said that the death of Laken Riley, by an undocumented immigrant, could have been saved if the Harris- Joe Biden administration had 'properly vetted' the immigrant.

"You had a case in Georgia not very long ago, didn't you? They made an ad about a young woman who'd been killed by an immigrant," Clinton said. "Yeah, well, if they'd all been properly vetted, that probably wouldn't have happened.

"But if they're all properly vetted and that doesn't happen, and America is not having enough babies to keep our populations up, so we need immigrants that have been vetted to do work, there wouldn't be a problem."

More On Bill Clinton In Georgia

Before stopping at the fish fry, Bill Clinton was at the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia to boost support for Kamala Harris. As per reports from reporters covering the event, most of the attendees were older people, with some younger people also attending.

“Uniting people and building, being repairers of the breach, as Isaiah says, those are the things that work," Clinton said. "Blaming, dividing, demeaning — they get you a bunch of votes at election time, but they don’t work.”

As the final day of the elections nears, Bill Clinton has joined the campaign trail to sway voters in Georgia, a key swing state that could prove crucial to the outcome of the 2024 elections.
