India captain Harmanpreet Singh stole the show on Day 1 of the Hockey Indian League Auction on 13th October, Sunday by becoming the most costliest player with 78 lakhs INR. Harmanpreet was acquired by Soorma Hockey Club, who not only spent a hefty amount on the Indian superstar, but also roped in Gurjant Singh for 19 lakhs.
A total of 54 players were sold on the first day along as the franchises splashed a combined total of around 16.88 crores.
Abhishek was the second-most expensive buy with 72 lakhs. He will be playing for Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers. Defending World Champion and Germany star, Gonzalo Peillat was the most expensive overseas buy of 68 Lakhs. The former Argentine international will be plying his trade for Hyderabad Toofans.
Another Indian star, Hardik Singh fetched 70 lakhs from UP Rudras.
