If Salman Khan could confide in someone, it was definitely Baba Siddique. The NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister was among the closest to the superstar and shared family-like ties with him. The Siddiques’ Iftar parties were incomplete without Salman’s presence. Standing through thick and thin, Salman and Baba rewrote the definition of friendship.
On Saturday, Salman received the most dreaded news of Baba’s demise. Multiple rounds of gunshots were fired at him outside his son Zeeshan Siddique's office in Bandra East. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, but the veteran politician succumbed to his injuries. Salman was there, by his side as he lay in silence.
Today, the Siddiques will lay him to rest at 8:30 PM at the Bada Kabarastan in Marine Lines, Mumbai. Ahead of the funeral, Salman visited the family to offer condolence. Amid tight security, the superstar stepped out to fulfil his duties as a family member.

Salman’s security has been beefed up after Baba’s assassination. A member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who has been threatening to kill the superstar, claimed responsibility for the murder. A Facebook account named Shubbu Lonkar Maharashtra accused Salman of starting a ‘war’. The person wrote in Hindi, "Salman Khan, we never wanted this war, but you caused harm to our brother. Today, whether it's under the respect of Baba Siddique's protection or an act with Dawood during that time, the purpose was to link Anuj Thapan and Dawood with Bollywood, politics, and property dealings upon his death. We have no enmity with anyone, but whoever helps Salman Khan and Dawood's gang will have to keep their accounts clear. As per India Today’s report, Salman is overlooking the arrangements for Baba’s funeral. He has also cancelled his upcoming meetings and work commitments.
