bengaluru couple's event management business turns out to be a prostitution racket

Bengaluru: A couple running a prostitution racket under the pretext of an event management business was arrested by the Women and Child Protection Wing of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Prakash and Parijata, residents of Pattegarapallya, were arrested, and four young women were rescued from their custody.

According to a local media report by Prajavani, the duo operated the racket under the fake names Rakesh and Pooja. They allegedly targeted young women from economically weaker backgrounds in North Karnataka. Under the pretext of promising them employment in Bengaluru, the couple lured the victims with money and then forced them into prostitution, the report said.

According to the police, the couple would take the women to parties at resorts in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry under the pretext of event management work. These weekly parties were attended by wealthy individuals and businessmen from various states. The accused charged between ₹25,000 and ₹50,000 from clients and also supplied alcohol at these events.

The arrests occurred when the couple was transporting the young women for prostitution. The police have launched an investigation, and efforts are ongoing to help the rescued women, the report added.
