A Bengaluru tech professional recently shared her experience of walking out of a job interview after being asked to draw the Indian flag and Ashok Chakra using CSS, a programming language primarily used for designing web pages. The techie, who has 10 years of experience in frontend development, expressed her frustration on Reddit, explaining that she had expected more advanced questions related to her expertise.
The woman, who was interviewing for a position at a small company near her home, described how the interview began with theoretical questions on CSS, which were followed by an unexpected request to create the Indian flag. Despite finding the task "completely absurd," she complied and completed it. However, her patience was tested further when the interviewer asked her to draw the Ashok Chakra and add spikes to it. At that point, the techie decided enough was enough.
"I questioned the interviewer about why such tasks were being asked, to which she replied it was a way to test my knowledge," the woman wrote. She pointed out that such exercises seemed out of place for someone with a decade of experience, noting that she would typically expect questions aimed at assessing real-world problem-solving skills and advanced concepts.

Frustrated, the candidate ended the interview, later asking others in the Reddit community whether interviewers need to refine their approach to hiring experienced professionals. Responses from fellow users were mixed—while some empathized with her disappointment, others speculated that the interviewer may have been testing her patience rather than technical skills.
One commenter remarked, "This seems like a valid question for freshers, but for someone with 10 years of experience, it’s unnecessary." Another speculated, "Perhaps she was just testing when you would lose your temperament."
