Afternoon: Lunch with a View at Ambrai
Post the boat ride, it's time to indulge in a delightful lunch at Ambrai Restaurant, located by the lakeside. With views of the City Palace, Jag Mandir, and Lake Pichola, this spot is ideal for a relaxing meal amidst Udaipur’s iconic landmarks. Enjoy traditional Rajasthani dishes or opt for continental fare. Laal Maas, a Rajasthani lamb dish, comes highly recommended.
Evening: A Boat Ride on Lake Pichola
After soaking in the regal beauty of the City Palace, and a hearty Rajasthani meal to refuel yourself, head down to Lake Pichola for a serene boat ride as the sun begins to set. Drift past the picturesque Jag Mandir Palace and the iconic Taj Lake Palace that seems to float on the water. While it can get pretty hot in the evenings too, it is also the perfect time to see the golden sunlight reflecting off the water, creating stunning vistas. After your boat ride, you can explore the local market and get your hands on nifty souvenirs. Don’t forget to buy some vibrant Bandhani (tie-dye fabric) or Pichwai paintings to take a piece of Udaipur back home.
Day 2
Morning: Exploring Jagdish Temple
Begin your second day by visiting the Jagdish Temple, a large Hindu temple located near the City Palace. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu as Jagannath, the chief deity, this 17th-century temple is adorned with intricate carvings and a massive stone idol of Garuda, Vishnu’s mount.
Afternoon: Saheliyon Ki Bari
Saheliyon ki Bari, located about 4 km from the city centre, has a rich heritage tied to the 48 young women who accompanied a princess as part of her dowry. Built in 1710 by Maharana Sangram Singh for the royal ladies, this major garden offers a glimpse into regal life. This garden is perfect for a tranquil walk and some photography amidst the lotus pools and fountains.

Evening: Sunset at Sajjangarh (Monsoon Palace)
In the late afternoon, make your way to the Sajjangarh Palace, also known as the Monsoon Palace, which is located atop Banswara Hill. Built by Maharana Sajjan Singh, known for his famous crystal collection, this 19th-century palace was intended to be an astronomical centre but later served as a hunting lodge. Located 8 km west of the city centre, entry and photography require a fee, with additional charges for forest jeep rides.
