For the unversed, Oyama was the voice of Doraemon from 1979 to 2005. The animated series, that is still airing, revolves around the titular blue cat robot Doraemon, who travels back in time from the future to befriend lazy schoolboy Nobita.

Fans of the show took to social media to pay tribute to the starlet. "RIP to Nobuyo Oyama. Her acting in Doraemon was very nostalgic to not only me but to my family as well. Once again, may she rest in peace," one netizen wrote. Another X user tweeted, "This is truly heartbreaking. So many legends have passed away this year. One of the first animes I watched growing up was Doraemon. Nobuyo Oyama always brought the fun and the joy out of her character when I was a kid. Her works and her legacy will never be forgotten."
