India will aim to continue their domination over Bangladesh when the two teams square off in the third and final T20I of the series on Saturday (October 12). With two wins in as many matches, India have already won the T20I series 2-0. The home team also won both Test matches and another win here will see them defeat Bangladesh in all five matches of the series.
Captain Suryakumar Yadav will have his eye on a huge record during the game and he is just 31 runs away from it. The right-handed batsman is just 31 runs away from the elusive 2500-run mark in T20Is.
Should he play a 31-run knock in Hyderabad, Suryakumar Yadav will join Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in an elite list. They are the only two Indian batsmen with more than 2500 runs in the shortest format. Suryakumar will become the third batsman to achieve this tally should he score 31 runs.
Suryakumar made his India debut under Virat's captaincy in 2021 and there has been no stopping him since then. His success with the bat saw him pip Hardik Pandya and become the T20I captain following Rohit's retirement.
Rohit, who is the highest run-scorer in T20Is, finished his career with 4231 runs in 159 matches. He captained India to a title win in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Virat Kohli, who held the top spot for a long time, scored 4188 runs in 125 matches. Both future ICC Hall of Famers retired from T20Is after winning the WC trophy.
Suryakumar's tally of 2469 runs includes 4 centuries and 20 half-centuries. He is capped in all three formats. He has been out of the ODI team since the 2023 World Cup final. Suryakumar's only Test appearance came in 2023. He is now unlikely to make his Test return and it would also be tough for him to return to ODIs.
