Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer appeared in a video posted by an influencer where she can be seen feeding Doritos to the influencer while the latter is down on her knees. The video was described as 'weird' and bizarre on social media, with some even alleging that Whitmer insulted the Catholic religion.

The video was posted on the Instagram account of influencer Liz Plank, who describes herself as a 'feminist who loves men.' In the caption of the video, Plank talked about the CHIPS and Science Act, which was passed by Joe Biden in August 2022 to promote manufacturing of semiconductor chips in the United States.
She wrote: "If he won’t, Gretchen Whitmer will. Chips aren’t just delicious, the CHIPS Act is a game-changer for U.S. tech and manufacturing, boosting domestic production of semiconductors to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers! Donald Trump would put that at risk."
The video drew sharp, wide ranging reactions from social media commentators. Most were caught off-guard by the video, calling it weird and bizarre. Some, like like former US House Representative Beau M. LaFave alleged that Whitmer is mocking the Catholic tradition of Eucharist.
"Can someone please explain to me why the Governor of Michigan is placing Doritos on a kneeling woman’s tongue?" LaFave wrote. "Is she mocking the Holy Sacrament of Communion practiced by Catholics participating in the Traditional Latin Mass?"
